BCCI Announce IPL 2026 Auction on December 16 in Abu Dhabi

The BCCI has officially announced that the IPL 2026 mega auction will be held on December 16. This time, the event will be held outside India at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Here, all ten IPL teams released their retentions on the same day. With retentions, the teams now have INR 237.55 crore left of their purse to spend at the auction. 77 slots are still to be filled across all teams, with 31 slots for foreign players.

Kolkata Knight Riders: The two-time champions are left with the maximum spending purse of ₹64.30 crore and they have released some heavyweights like Andre Russell along with Venkatesh Iyer. Chennai Super Kings come next, with more than ₹43 crore left.

At the other extreme are Mumbai Indians who have got just ₹2.75 crore in their purse left with 20 players already signed up.

There should be some very interesting bidding as franchises strive to bolster their stables ahead of IPL 2026.
